WELCOME TO THE COMMUNITY ENERGY CHALLENGE!

The Community Energy Challenge is an energy efficiency program that is the result of a non-profit partnership between Opportunity Council and Sustainable Connections. The two-fold goal of the Community Energy Challenge is to encourage and support residential and commercial energy efficiency retrofits, and to boost local economic development in the construction sector. It began as one of 8 energy efficiency pilot programs in Washington, created with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 stimulus package. Originally serving Whatcom County, the Community Energy Challenge has now grown to include four counties: Whatcom, Skagit, Island and San Juan.

Whether for home or business, participation in this energy efficiency program begins with an energy assessment or energy audit that results in a comprehensive report by one of our Energy Advisors. The report details opportunities for cost savings through energy efficiency retrofits and other energy saving measures. Should you choose to follow up on one or more of the recommendations, your Energy Advisor will assist you every step of the way, and will help you access any incentives, rebates and financing you may be eligible for. Through the Community Energy Challenge’s energy efficiency program, you can save money while saving energy and helping to foster economic development within your community.
